Poverty is the true robber of freedom?

Many people like to say socialized medicine robs an americans freedom, that we should be able to choose if we pay for healthcare. When a person finds themselves on hard times, and cannot see a doctor when they need one, or worse, their children cannot. Or even worse, when they find the insurance does not cover what they need, even though they have been paying so long and so much. I feel this is a greater robber of freedom than having to pay into socialized medicine. I think every person should have the right to medicine, I think thats freedom. What are your thoughts?
If you disagree with me, do you believe that education should not be socialized either? why, or why not?

People should have choice. That is where tax credits to those that can not afford insurance would be good. A health insurance system maybe like Switzerland's where insurance companies are limited to the amount of profit they are able to make on base policies, they are allowed adjust profits on additional coverage. I think a system like this is likely a good blend while giving people freedom of choice, giving people the opportunity to adequately insure themselves and not create a huge healthcare arm of the government sucking up tax dollars.

I believe the same thing should be done for education. Choice is what drives excellence. When choice is removed excellence usually suffers, human nature, people need to be motivated, losing business is a good motivator.

Home Insurance Companies?

There is a home in Arlington, MA and I am looking at different local insurance companies. What is your general feedback or knowledge regarding these companies: Merrimack, Commerce, Metlife, and Citation (although I think Citation is part of Commerce). Were they easy to deal with, etc. If you feel that none of these companies are good, which ones do you recommend?

Merrimack is great. Met, well, there are problems with Met. Commerce, I know one of the owners, so am biased. I have no idea about Citation.

I also like Hanover, in MA, for Homeowners, and Amica is great, too.

Of course, all of these companies are going to want the home to be updated, AND, owner occupied. That's the main condition for homeowners policies.

What is the average commission to Property casualty insurance agents?

California agency, size12,000,000 Looking for new and renewal commission on commercial lines accounts
I am looking for the producer portion of the agency commission.

Varies by line. Monoline property/gl/umbrella 10%. Monoline comp 5%. Package 15%. Professional/specialty 7 1/2%.

Is the $12M size revenues or premiums? That's a crucial bit of info here. Keep in mind, there are probably contingency plans in place with many of the carriers, for favorable loss ratios.

Also, more and more larger accounts are being written on a flat fee basis, rather than commission basis. So you have to factor that in as well.

why are illegal mexicans allowed to drive without auto insurance?

why can't we send a insurance bill to El Presidente Cauldron for his people driving on our streets injuring people, killing people, and damaging property without insurance? The county hospitals emergency rooms are filled with illegal aliens seeking medical treatment that americans taxpayers are footing the bill for. An uninsured illegal mexican ran into my truck and totaled it and I am stuck with the bill.

About 10 percent of the drivers on any given road are uninsured. That does not depend upon immigration status. I suppose, by extension, if you were hit by an anglo uninsured driver that you would want me, the U.S. taxpayer, to pay for it for you. Sounds suspiciously like socialism to me. What I recommend is that in the future you pay for uninsured motorists coverage.

Does anyone know a good dental insurance company to get online?

Most of the time, the only way to get really good dental coverage is through your employer. When you buy dental insurance as an individual, there are deductibles and co-pays and annual maximums that you need to analyze in order to figure out when and if you will actually save money by having insurance coverage. Some of the premiums I have seen make it almost impossible to realize any positive cash flow from the related policy. I mean, at $60 a month with $100 deductible and $1,000 annual maximum, you will have to take $820 out of your own pocket before you realize one penny of "profit" or net gain from your dental insurance.

Then you have to calculate the effect of co-payements. Check the figures and do the math yourself.

Be cautious about buying or choosing a plan where you do not have any choice about the dentist you can see, because you just might not like the dentist(s) listed on the plan and then you are stuck for a year until you can get out of it.

Be cautious about buying a so-called "dental discount plan," often mentioned on Yahoo!, since they also have restrictive lists and they really are not dental insurance at all. Just be careful and understand what you are buying.

For many people who just can't get good dental insurance, a regular savings plan sort of like a Christmas Club with $20-25 a month deposited into a dedicated account will pay off when you examine the return over a lifetime. You may run way over your savings at first, but once you get your mouth straightened out, your annual expenses should not be more than a couple hundred dollars most of the time.

For major treatment, dental insurance is no great deal anyhow. They limit you to $1,000-1,500 per year, subject you to deductibles, co-pays, etc. Imagine if you were in a car accident and your carrier said, "Yep, it's a total loss. Here's a check for $1,500. Good luck coming up with enough money to buy a new car." Dental "insurance" should usually be considered a payment arrangement where you give your dollars to a large company who holds onto them until you say the secret word and manage to get a few of them back.

Is buying health insurance online a good idea?

What has your experience been? Did you save money and still get good benefits and service?

Of course I'm biased because that's what I do, BUT to be clear you're not saving any money buying from my website over sitting across the desk from me.

Insurance is a regulated industry and it does not matter how you buy it and health insurance shouldn't be so complicated that you need to meet with anybody to do it. I have clients around the world and right down the street and even the ones that are close by handle everything via the phone and Internet.

People buy from an Internet site because it's convenient. You want to make sure you're buying from someone that does what I do. Don't go to a big firm because then you're just dealing with a customer service representative and not building a lasting relationship with an advocate that can help you.

To MAKE SURE you're buying from someone reputable look at the 'About Us' section of their web site. If you can't find a physical address then don't use them, call them on the phone as well and feel them out. Finally look around the site for information. MANY sites simply gather your information to sell to agents to call you. In that case you have no idea who you're dealing with. So, if the site doesn't provide much information about the products you're looking for then it's likely just a site to capture your information.

Do business with a broker and do it online or over the phone if that works for you. Also, finally everything that's good online is available offline as well. There is NO difference in the products. It's just the easier way to transact the business. AND, make no mistake that applications done online WILL BE FASTER to the tune of at least two weeks off the underwriting time (of course that differs company to company). United Healthcare can underwrite an online application in as quick as 24-48 hours. If you mail in an application it won't even arrive in their mailbox that fast.

Lastly make sure you're comparing multiple companies with someone you can trust.

(PS I've never seen a Nigerian health insurance company….shaking head and rolling eyes….)

Can someone supply a list of UK insurance companies which claim you are not insured if you do not have tax?

I can understand the need for MOT but have the insurance companies become indirect tax collectors for the government? No just another reason to not pay out!

Simply, if there is anything wrong with your vehicle at all, the insurance companies will wriggle out of settling any claim.

switching homeowners insurance companies… do i need to ?

let the mortgage holder know?? it is not escrowed into our mortgage but do i need to notify the bank or anything like that?

The mortgage holder needs to know. Depending upon which insurance company you select, that company may not have a "A.M. Best" rating and the mortgage holder might not accept the policy if the rating is low or if there is no rating. It is best to buy insurance from a Nationally known company and you won't have a problem.
