Auto Insurance- Is it cheaper to get online or through an agent? Does it matter?
It is certainly more convenient to search for a new auto policy online, but is that the best rate? Will caling an agent yield a better deal?
Also I have 2 vehicles with liability insurance and I obviously cant drive both at the same time why does American Family make me pay for 2 policies, I mean WTF its liabilty and I only use the 2nd vehicle once in a blue moon. If I were to drive a friends vehicle I would be covered by my insurance without a separate policy…your thoughts..
Going through an agent will cost you more as the agent costs money.
You can save tons by buying from a site, but shopping around costs nothing so why not do both?

A lot of insurance companies in fact most of them now offer lower cost to cover both vehicles vs. just one. They consider this a multiple car discount and it is quite cheaper to cover both of the vehicles on one policy. I have a truck and a suv on my policy. The truck is an old Ford that I rarely drive. If I take it off my policy, then my coverage goes up by more than $40 a month. How ridiculous is this? This is coming from a person who studies auto insurance to ensure the lowest price. Keeping your vehicles both covered is smart and can be cost saving. Nobody can tell you which is cheaper way to get coverage on the Internet or through an agent since people have saved both ways. It is a great idea to compare quotes between as many companies as possible. Auto insurance companies can vary by as much as $600 on a single policy with the same coverages and vehicles. It is up to the driver to find out which company can offer the lowest rates. This means that every driver should get as many quotes as possible through agents, the Internet, telephone and company direct. Agents may can best help you decide which coverages may be best for you. Once you find out which coverages and deductibles you want, then you can go on the Internet and compare the rates of multiple companies with a breeze. Find the right coverage and a good company, then you will have a good rate.
