Can I become an Insurance Adjuster without a four yr degree?
I have a diploma in automotive collision repair and know how to estimate damage.
Should I get my pre-licensing First?? I live in NC also
Usually, you get hired by a company first, who then sponsors you to get your adjusters' license. At some companies, it may be possible to start as an assistant and work your way up, but I think most adjusters have some sort of 4 year degree.
But don't let that discourage you- get out there and apply!
Sure you can! Degrees aren't REQUIRED in the insurance industry. HOWEVER, it's darn hard to get hired by a COMPANY without a degree.
Having said that, you could work for an outside adjusting firm, such as Crawford and Company, if they'll take you on. Most of the time it's NOT salaried – so you only get paid when there's work to do. No skin off their back, but pretty tough for you to make a full time living at it until you establish a client base.

Run, fast and long. You really don't want to become an insurance adjuster. You will spend your life arguing about whether the body shop should be charging $2 more per hour than your boss will allow you to pay.
