My insurance wont cover my full coverage claim! HELP.?
My transmission blew and my vehicle caught on fire on January 10th this year. I took it to my automotive company that just flushed the transmission a couple months ago. It has been sitting there since that date. I turned in my claim Jan 11th and since then my insurance company wont call me or discuss this matter. Everytime I talk to them they just give me the run around about they dont have enough info to adjust the price correctly. Its been four months! Ive lost my job cause i have no vehicle, i have no money cause i have no job and now im losing my house cause im having trouble paying my bills… Why in the world have I been paying them for full coverage if they wont help me out any!?!? I dont know what to do!! help me! how long can the insurance do NOTHING and have me sit?? I feel like they are taking me for everything I have.
I did have a fire, the firefighters came out and wrote a report. The damage estimate was totaled for the vehicle. All the wires are melted, the motors gone… I have called them constantly. The garage is not taking responsiblity for it. The insurance isnt saying they wont pay they are just not doing anything.
How long can they ignore you? Forever if you let them. Did you have fire, theft and collision coverage? If so, what is the deductible? How badly was the truck damaged? Can it be repaired, or is it totaled? Has the adjuster looked at it?
Figure out how much it will take to make you happy, subtract your deductible if any from that figure, and make a claim for that amount. Stay on them until you get an answer from them. Is the repair shop taking any responsibility for the fire since they had worked on the transmission? Find out, and if not, find out why not.
You've got to be proactive. You can always call the insurance regulator or attorney general in your state and complain. You can contact your state senator and complain. You can threaten to hire an attorney.
Again, it's up to you to ask for what you want and go after it.
Call the insurance commissioner in your state. They have the power to make the company take action.
Regards,
Dan

Has to be more to it than that. If this is the case, then you need to submit a complaint to the Department of Insurance. Insurance companies have 30 days to respond to a "proof of claim". Whether it be to deny, request more time or pay. I'm hoping the same rules would apply in your state.

I need to question that someone can loose their job and perhaps their house because they either can't get someone to pick up the phone or having someone else do anything for 4 months.
As others mentioned, you first need to file a complain with the Dept of Insurane in your state. You then need to call the adjusters supervisor. If you don't get an answer in 24 hours, call that person's boss. Keep moving up the ladder. Also, write a letter to the president of the company demanding action. Send it certified mail.
There is a good possiblity that the transmission won't be covered (wear and tear) but the damage from the resulting fire will.

Contact your state Insurance commissioners office and the consumer protection people. Have a lawyer call your insurance company. They will stall only as long as you allow it.
