   yes you can a lot of company's will also give you a month free.
   but be careful as the company you buy the phone for is responsible for the phone not the network you sign up to i would advise buying straight through the network that way you have more help if some think goes wrong

   http://www.importgsm.com is a good site for unlocked phones/pda's with warranties. They sell a lifetime warranty–breakage, water, repair with loaner (just no theft)–for just 15% of the cost of the phone.

   If it's a PAYG phone you're after and not worried about the network – Orange offer this facility. It's called Orange Care. It cover's you against lost, stolen, damaged and faulty h/sets (certain to terms and conditions – these can be found in the back of the phone manual). If you buy direct – either from orange.co.uk or their Telesales team on 0800 079 0435 they will cover the phone for h/set faults within the first 6 months.

   yes you can buy mobile phone on line and the only site i know if you live in uk is argos .com they sell phones and insurance
