can I get a salvage bid from a wrecking yard online for a total loss vehicle?

I am an independent appraiser dealing with automotive claim for insurance companies. I work late and sometimes need to obtain 3 salvage bid on total loss vehicle. to upload my work in a timely fashion I would like to be able to go on a web site for this information insted of calling wrecking yards the next day.
Thank you all. I do use IAA and Copart depending on the insurance company I'm working for. Some company do pay for these services and some do not. There is monthly fee involved for these services.

I work for a major auto insurance company as an adjuster. We send all of our vehicles to IAA.

It might not be as accurate as calling, but you should be able to get a pretty good approximation of a vehicle's salvage value online at their salvage analysis site. There are about 25 different classes of damage, and the option to look at pictures to get a better idea of the true salvage value.

All you need is a year, make, model, and general description of the damage (left side, rollover, flood, etc.) and it will give you the average salvage sale amount for all matching vehicles within the last year. I dispatch IAA to pick vehicles up through their website as well.

I don't know if it costs anything, as if it is, my company pays for it. I don't know if IAA is an option in your area, but they're pretty widespread. It would definitely take a lot of time out of my day if I actually called. Their website is very thorough.

Try these sites:

I'm looking to open a auto shop. But the kicker is I'm hiring the mechanics as contractors with there own tools. So how much will general state requiered insurance cost me a month?

The rate varies with the state and with provider. About $10,000/yr. for $1M

Will Obama take over the oil companies too when gas gets to $4 in September?

Obama and the dems have taken control of the automotive, banking, and insurance industry. Will Obama act like the Chicago style thug he is and take over the oil industry too? If so, will it be before November?

Why not, he's taking over everything else.
Then I can buy a car at Obama Motors and get financing at The Bank Of The Kenyan Obama and get it insured with Obama Insurance and get it serviced at Obama Filling Station.
Hell, the way this illegitimate foreigner is buying up stuff, why not just change our country's name to Obamaland?

When will our government stop caving in to business and have a real regulatory system?

and i don't just mean the banks, i am talking food, drug, media, insurance, automotive…

When we outlaw lobbying and restrict campaign contribution- legal bribes, etc.

Why doesn’t the government give more money to the automotive companies?!?!?

Forget AIG, help general motors and all the other big automotive companies. If AIG goes under, then everyone can just switch insurance companies. I’m not saying to leave it behind, but most of the money being rushed to the largest insurance agency in the world could be helping car makers which would be far more beneficial. If the car industries go down, nearly 3 million jobs would be lost. That is another depression. So why?

If their problems were mainly due to the current economic climate I would agree with you. But they aren’t.

The big three automakers have been failing for many years because of gross mismanagement and failure to plan for the future. Even now they are still trying to defeat efforts to make their cars more fuel efficient. They stupidly keep making cars people don’t want to buy.
We should help them, but to get any help I would demand that the big three must:
-Drastically cut back on expenses; i.e. immediately drop production on their losing models.
-Slash exec pay/perks (I seem to remember that Lee Iacocca took a token salary of $1 until Chrysler improved.)
-Rewrite the UAW contract.

FYI – AIG is an immense Insurance company far bigger than the big three automakers put together.
If AIG sank the ramifications would be as great, or greater, than a big three failure.

is there such a thing as a member funded, non-profit insurance group?

Say a large group of citizens formed an orgnization to equalize risk, say of automotive accidents. Everyone paid a premium to a company that was managed by paid professionals, but say that organization was not allowed to make a profit. Any 'profit' would take the form of reduced insurance premiums.

Does such a thing exist, can you eloborate?
growing inside,can you eloberate?
growing inside,can you eloberate?

What your sort of talking about, is a RECIPROCAL insurance exchange. That is usually for larger scale things, like physician's medical malpractice.

It could also called a "mutual" insurance company, where the policy holders actually own the company.

Any profits left over at the end of the year are redistributed to the policyholders. There are still a few true mutual companies left in the US, but they would vary from state to state.

Can I become an Insurance Adjuster without a four yr degree?

I have a diploma in automotive collision repair and know how to estimate damage.
Should I get my pre-licensing First?? I live in NC also

Usually, you get hired by a company first, who then sponsors you to get your adjusters' license. At some companies, it may be possible to start as an assistant and work your way up, but I think most adjusters have some sort of 4 year degree.

But don't let that discourage you- get out there and apply!

auto insurance for 18 year old ?

I’m looking for the least expensive automotive insurance and was wondering what would be the typical monthly payment for an 18 year old driver who has had one accident about one year ago.
i have one quote from my moms insurance company (USAA) that came to 110 a month and the top of the line was 160 a month.
I'm starting college next monday
and i'm not getting the insurance cuz i don't have a job right now i'm just tagging on my moms for now but
so that also means that USAA know about my accident.
but it didn't go on my record cuz i took the drivers training course and paid 150 bucks

$110-$160 a month for an 18 year old with an accident? and you didn't jump all over it? what's wrong with you? Call them back first thing and accept it, it won't get much better than that. And remember, infractions stay on your driving record for up to 3 1/2 years AND they generally check your credit for an insurance quote, so your rate is based on many different factors. Make sure you give them the actual VIN number from the vehicle you will be driving for an accurate quote.
