Intrested in becoming an Automotive Insurance claims adjuster.?
What do I need to know before I look into this? I know you have to be state licensed and pass a test, can you self study for this test? I'm not sure I exactly have the name of the career correct but I'm talking about the guy who usually works in a body shop or car dealership and just gives you an estimate on your vehicle after you've been in a accident. Do these guys have college degrees or is one needed for this profession? Any information at all would be valuable. Thanks.
That has nothing to do with insurance honey. That is just some dude @ a body shop. An adjuster is the person that writes the check, applies your deductible, and the person that handles the entire claim.

Which company offers the best priced automotive insurance? I have a teenage driver and the rates are killing!
I have seen many ads for GEICO but I do not know anyone that has tried them. I currently have PROGRESSIVE but do not think I am getting a great rate with them.
"I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance"
Honestly I have beaten every insurance company and every insurance company has been me. Every company has their markets. The company I work with does really well with teenager auto rates and Homeowners insurance but we are horrible with Boat insurance. Just check around!
www.farmers.com www.netquote.com www.insureme.com www.quoteauction.com check these sites out.
Also keep in mind it’s not always about price make sure you know what you are getting. Don’t just go with the cheapest company go with the company that gets you decent coverage for a good price. Also look at their service that’s very important. Are you going to call and talk with the same person every time? Or are you going to be call a different person ever time? Maybe that's not that important to you. Do your research.

My car turned into a giant robot and damaged my house – goes on homeowners or automotive insurance?
Saw the movie 'Transformers' and this is what occurred to me during a particular scene, thought it might be fun for the insurance folks to debate (apologies if you find it too spammy). Maybe the answer is to try and sue the car's leader, Optimus Prime, but I don't know what insurance court can hold accountable a sentient robot from outer space.
Aren't you glad you're not my agent? . . . lol.
Here's the response scorecard so far:
Home Auto Neither
Why!? x
Buddy x
ivory 2004 x x
StephenWeinsteinx x
mbrcatz17 x x
Very interesting indeed! But wouldn't my car becoming sentient be equivalent to someone borrowing or stealing my car, so possibly their policys should be charged?
Dang! The formatting of the table above didn't carry over! Here it is again, with H=Homeowners, A= Automotive, N=Neither:
Why!?: A
Buddy: N
ivory 2004: H A
StephenWeinstein: H A
mbrcatz17: H or N
If you are the owner of the car – then the automobile policy would not pay for your house (because you can not be liable to yourself and liability coverage is what pays for other peoples damages). Your car, would be repaired under the collision coverage of your auto policy.
Your homeowners policy would pay for the damage to your house.
It's not unusual to get a claim for a car that was not in gear and rolled into a house. I guess this is the closest thing to the above example.
Now…If you could prove Optimus Prime instructed the car to damage your house…your home owners insurance company would subrogate back against Optimus. Of course, you as the owner of the car, may have some liability. If the car is a minor (and therefore under the age at which you are legally responsible for your actions) then you as the owner (or parent) of the car my be responsible – were you not properly supervising your car? Where you aware of Optimus Primes reputation for destruction when you left your car in the care, custody or control of Optimums Prime?
Ultimately, you want to be thankful that Optimus sicked your car on your own house and not the neighbors house.

what type of degree do I need for automotive insurance adjusting?
Wanted a career working with cars-I live in the Detroit area and with Ford and GM world headquarters right here, I wanted to work for the big 3 possiblly in engineering. But since I cannot do that cause the market has gone sour, I decided to work in automotice insurance, possible adjusting, but not sure what degree is required. I already have an associates degree and want to go for my batchelers. But not sure what degree. What do you think?
I believe it is mathematics. A friend of mine wanted to become an actuary and deal with doing insurance stuff, and she was studying applied mathematics.
