I work for a mortgage company in Southest Louisiana. A custome of mine got an insurance quote from some company online. They quoted $1400/year for a house that costs $190,000. I closed on a house 3 months ago that sold for $160,000 and their insurance was $3300/year. Something doesn't sound right, especially since we are in a hurricane affected area. Soemone please help!!!

You should be able to go to a web site for the state that you live and it will tell you that information, I believe.
I am an insurance agent and I know in the state I live, you can look up about anything you need to know. You should be able to see if there are any other complaints against them. Or call them. Best of luck to you.

You do your own joining. You could walk into a State farm office and it'll be one price or you could join State farm via a comparison site such as

Mortgage Protection Insurance for my UK home. I need it, but which insurance company shall I choose?

I have been offerred mortgage payment protection insurance by my mortgage lender, but it seems a bit expensive.
I think my job is OK, but I do worry as there have been a few people made redundant recently. There seems to be a lot of mortgage protection insurance online on Google UK, but does anyone have any experience of any companies or more to the point, has anyone been made redundant and had to claim with their mortgage protection insurance provider?

i suggest staying away from them. you WANT a local agent in your corner. this way you have one person taking care of your accounts who knows you and your needs. if you ever have to file a claim, you have a local agent to help if the need arises. when you purchase policies online, you NEVER get the same person twice. i have had a lot of people come to me to rewrite policies after using an online company because only AFTER something happens do they find out they did not have the coverages they actually needed.

Overcharged on autoinsurance payment i made online, bank and insurance co are closed, what can i do?

Well, you can't put a stop payment on something that has already been paid. Once they have taken it from the account there is nothing to stop.

You can wait until they are open and contact the insurance company to tell them the problem. Ask them to pay for the overdraft fees that they caused.

If they wont return the extra money charged, you would have to talk to the bank and tell them you didn't authorize that amount to be paid and the bank will get it back.

Hopefully you have your reciept to show the bank or insurance company how much you were paying, that will make it easier. It wont be too late, you have plenty of time if you deal with it Monday.

If the insurance company wont pay for the overdraft fees, then you can ask the bank to waive them, which they might do if you are in good standing.

I'm not sure which you did, but if you made the payment on the insurances website, contact them first. If you did a bill pay from your checking account online, contact them first.
