Congressman Ron Paul exposed as a liar in his own essays?

Ron Paul has said in his essays that he will be end the federal income tax and abolish the IRS, while he also favors abolishing medical malpractice insurance to be replaced by insurance of "negative outcomes" paid for by patients who will–and here's the stunning contradition–a TAX CREDIT!

Being an obstretrician himself (second-highest malpractice insurance rates by speciality) it's no wonder the kindly old Senator wants to shift the burden for deaths and injuries caused by incompetent and dishonest physicians to the American Taxpayer. Is this man an idiot or merely a shill doing the bidding of the American Medical Association?

For those who requested a link and the exact quote:

"The free-market approach enables patients to protect themselves with “negative outcomes” insurance purchased before medical treatment. Such insurance ensures that those harmed receive fair compensation, while reducing the burden of costly malpractice litigation on the health care system. . . .
. . . Patients receive this insurance payout without having to endure lengthy lawsuits, and without having to give away a large portion of their award to a trial lawyer. This also drastically reduces the costs imposed on physicians and hospitals by malpractice litigation.

I have introduced legislation that allows individuals a tax credit for the purchase of negative outcomes insurance."—Ron Paul quoted from his essay "The Free-Market Approach to the Medical Malpractice Crisis"

As the saying goes, read it and weap.

Well, isn't that cushy for him. He's a loon. Don't worry about him. Most of his fan base can't vote.

What's the difference between a D.O. and an M.D.?

I've recently acquired insurance through my employer and have to choose a doctor. I'm not sure how to choose based entirely on names and location and would like to make a more informed decision by at least knowing their specialities, etc. Thanks!!
The only two choices for doctors in my town are D.O.'s and M.D.'s, so I'm definitely going to stick with one of those.
Oh, and what's osteopathy???

Thanks…

A DO is a osteo doctor, which is a regular doc who specializes in osteopathy. If you're looking for a general doctor, try an internist. They usually have more knowledge on adult health than, say, a family practice doc.

What kind of speciality doctor should I seek? Jaw Pain / Lung Pain?

Hi

I have been hurting everywhere lately (I am only 23).

Since last December, my right jaw joint (right below my ear) hurts REALLY bad whenever I open my mouth to talk or eat. I dont think its infection because my ear doesn't hurt, but just jaw joint hurts really bad. I am not sore or swallen…

And I have been really allergic to any gas thats heavier than air. I used to smoke for a year (4 years ago), and I quit. After a while, I developed this really weird symptom. I smoked once just for fun, and I couldn't breath that night and next morning as if I had asthma. I smoked hooka, and same thing happened. I work in a lab, and I just tried enhaling dry ice (CO2) for the hell of it, and the same thing happened. When I inhale helium, nothing really hurts. My boss is an MD, so he told me something really weird. Told me that my bronchi is twisted, I do not have turberculosis.

I have Kaiser as my employee insurance, and I am seeking for advice in chooising which doctor to see.

The jaw pain sounds a lot like temporomandibular joint syndrome (TMJS). Did your boss see a chest x-ray? If so, and his diagnosis is correct, you should see a pulmonologist. I would have thought you'd know this if you work in a lab. Also, you should stop all smoking and all recreational drugs, as well as playing around with helium.

Is there anything similar to the Kelsey-Seybold in Austin, Texas?

The Kelsey-Seybold clinics located in the Houston metro area provide doctors with the varying specialities (pediatrics, ENT, neurology, etc.) that in some cases do not require a referral from your primary physician (my insurance won't cover the office visit fee to see a specialist without the referral). Is there anything like this in Austin, Texas? Thanks!

Have you tried Breckinridge?

They seem to have everything there..?? give it a shot?

Can I file a law suit against my employeer?

I work for a large speciality Doctors practice. One of te senior partners ( A Cardo Doc who never lets you forget he is senior partner ) Tried to terminate me for accidently rooming a patient in a room he thought he was using. In front of several co – workers who hae all told management he was out of line and the way he treated me was uncalled for. He screamed at me, shouting at me to shut up, the look on his face, I was afraid he was going to hit me. Telling me this was his office nad he siuigns my pay checks. It was exteramly emotional for me, I wa sto have surgery 2 days later and it was canceled and now I need to see an cardo doc, becuause my ekg came back with a elevated heart rate. I am out on FMLA and can not return to work because they have hired a temp. I was reschedule dfor surgery in 3 weeks. I am afraid to return to my job, but my health insurance is through my employment. I believe this has cause a hostil work enviorment for me .

Yes, you have a hostile work environment with this man because his behavior was uncalled for as well as unprofessional. His ego was full throttle here at your most publicly embarrassing expense…he could have said it differently but he chose not to. One error does not constitute a firing so he's pretty threatening.. However, don't expect your fellow workers to get involved in your case…that's threatening to their livelihood You are going to need a lawyer because doing this is political suicide…but looks like he is a mental case and or dry alcoholic and you have recourse…don't back down once you start the process…let Mr. BigShot take notice of a true problem. Be firm, mean business and good luck

Do Senator Paul's conflicting positions on taxes and malpractice reveal a hypocrit?

Ron Paul has said in his essays that he will be end the federal income tax and abolish the IRS, while he also favors abolishing medical malpractice insurance to be replaced by insurance of "negative outcomes" paid for by patients who will get–and here's the stunning contradition–a TAX CREDIT!

First off, the person who does the harm is supposed to pay the damages. That is a maxim of jurispridence going back 600 years! It is even one of the basic tenets of the "Hammurabic Code." Secondly, 40% of the American public do not earn enough to even benefit from tax credits.

Being an obstretrician himself (second-highest malpractice insurance rates by speciality) it's no wonder the kindly old Senator wants to shift the burden for deaths and injuries caused by incompetent and dishonest physicians to the American Taxpayer. Is this man an idiot or merely a shill doing the bidding of the American Medical Association

First off, Ron Paul is a Congressman, not a Senator.

Second, he believes in a federal government that exercises only those powers granted to it by the US Constitution (Enumerated Powers Doctrine). The Constitution specifically lists (enumerates) the powers that the federal government has… all other rights are retained/reserved by the states and the people. If it is not in the Constitution, then, according to the 9th and 10th Amendments, the Federal government should not be doing it

What are my rights ? They hit me, insurance Co.wants to give me half of what my car's worth!!!?

A woman totaled my car in a parked in an apt. parking lot. The insurance company is only offered me $3200.00 . Blue book is $5500.00 , Market price in my area is 5300.00. I proved that, and they offered me $3300.00. What can I do?? The Co. is Unitrin Speciality
My car was parked. Her insurance made the offer.

If it is the others insurance company that is making you the $3200. offer. and your car is insured, you may do better going thru your own insurance company. Assuming you have collision coverage, you would pay your company your collision deductible(if any), they will determine a "totaled" value just like the other company and often your company will pay you more than the others company. If your company pays, they will go after the other company and if/when they collect they will return part or all of your deductible to you. Always, Always, use your insurance to deal with these matters. That is what you buy insurance for.
