Who is the best home insurance company in Florida? I am 1 mile from the ocean?
You're in Florida, on the coast. Your problem isn't finding the BEST company, it's finding someone willing to WRITE you at ANY PRICE. Lots of luck. You'll probably end up in the state company, Citizens.
Contact a few local insurance agents to see if they can help you. Be prepared to spend A LOT. You'll probably need three policies – one homeowners, excludes wind & flood, one wind policy, and one flood policy.

But remember, for Florida homeowners, it's a seller's market. And most sellers (insurance companies) aren't interested in ANY Florida property. But you probably know that already.
AIA?

The agents are sorted by zip code and since they pay to be listed, you know that they can write homeowners locally.

There is no such thing as the "best" insurance company. They all cater to specific needs. The best thing to do is get a free comparison quote so that you can compare apples to apples and make your own informed decision. The following site has links for free comparison quotes. Good Luck

There is no best insurance company in Florida. All insurance companies are in business to make money and will drop you in a heartbeat. Remember that. As to what you should do: Call the state insurance commissioner's office and find out who has the least number of complaints…or maybe, no complaints. Obtain several quotes from that list, go with the best quote, make sure you have apples to apples when making your decision. Then do not file frivolous claims. You might not be dropped . Good hunting to you

There are still a few good insurance companies writing in Florida. A couple that you might try are Amica and Liberty Mutual. Both are VERY good companies and very fair in their claim practices. Being so close to the coast you might have a problem getting any company other that Citizens to write a policy there though.
