Would Greenville NC be considered by a home insurance company to be a HIGH RISK hurricane area?
The place got ripped up badly and flooded in 1999's hurricane Floyd but I understand that to have been a rare occurrence of 2 hurricanes back to back. Just wondering if I would want to invest there, and whether flood insurance would be highly recommended.
The damage from hurricanes there is small compared to the damage from floods and not all floods are a result of hurricanes. If a property is in a flood plain you definitely need flood insurance.

You'll have to talk to a local agent. If you're comparing it to, say, Wyoming, then yes, it's a higher hurricane risk. If you're comparing it to Florida, than no.
But ya know, no one can predict the future, that's why there's INSURANCE. Who knows. Maybe Wyoming is going to get the big hurricane this year.
Meanwhile, don't depend on a buncha anonymous yahoos to define your risk levels.
