I just went to family court and my soon to be ex-husband presented a print out of medications I have been on over the past 7 years. Our insurance company provided him with this list.
Is this legal? I thought there were strict confidentiality laws regarding this!
That is definitely illegal in the UK. Even if the policy were a joint policy, your insurance company does not have the right to disclose personal information without your express permission.

there is the privacy act and i think its the ammendament of 1975 that says they cant u can sue if u wanted to its an absoult breach of your privacy no bueno girly!

No – that is a violation of HIPAA. Have an attorney send the insurance company a letter & copy your ex on it that states that it is a clear violation of HIPAA & that any further release of information will be subject to court action.
