Why is my online home insurance quote cheaper than the 1 they sent me, its the same company?
It always happens, the renewal quote is always more expensive, ring them up and I bet they will go with the on-line quote to keep you as a customer.
Also go on comparsion sites to see if you can further beat the company you are with http://www.moneysupermarket.com or http://www.confused.com
I'm not sure but a lot of companies take money off when you order things online…
So maybe it's the same idea!

Because online quotes are "lowballed" scams. Surely you know that.

Most likely the online quote is done with very limited information. It does not consider specific information (such as what would come from your CLUE, MVR, or credit rating). The quote that was sent to you is more specific to you and considers all of the under writing criteria.

You need to be sure the coverages are exactly the same. What is the dwelling limit? What is the liability limit? Do you have replacement cost on contents on both, replacement cost on dwelling, sewer backup, refrigerated products? Is the rating correct – distance to fire hydrant, fire dept – credit score – claims history? Is the house rented or owner occupied? Is the policy form the same HO1, HO2 or HO3, etc. You have to look at the quotes, LINE BY LINE to be sure it is exactly the same. The agent that gave you the quote will do this for you, I do it quite a bit. MOST of the time there are glaring differences between the quotes and when the quotes are changed to be EXACT, there is seldom a difference in the quote. Every once in a while (but from my experience, not very often) there is, then you have to weigh the difference with access to an agent. If the difference is several hundred dollars, you may want to go it alone, but if the difference is not much, you are much better off to pay the extra for a good agent to back you up if there is a problem with a claim, with payments, etc.

Try visting your agent or a homeowners agent in your area. http://www.goodinternetdeals.com/Home-Insurance.html They will be able to help you.
