Travel Insurance for Wedding Dress ?
My fiance is travelling back to Canada in two weeks to buy the wedding dress for our wedding next year, which she will be bringing back on her return flight.
In the light of the recent heightened security at British Airports, there is a chance she will have to put the dress in the hold of the aircraft.
If she does this, would travel insurance cover this ?
Most travel insurance companies I have looked at, give a figure of approximately £250 cover for individual items, which is I do not think is enough to cover a dress.
Does anyone have any experience of this ?
Any info or views would be gratefully appreciated.
Thanks in advance
GW

A normal travel insurance policy would not cover a Wedding Dress.
Some companies offer travel policies with additional "Wedding Cover", one example I came across was £40.00 for one week single trip cover and the wedding cover was an additional £30.00. The additional premium covered things like rings, gifts and wedding attire (ie wedding dress!).
I'd suggest doing a online search of the main insurance companies or alternatively contact a local insurance salesman who would easily be able to sort out a policy for you.

Put the wedding dress into a separate bag and tell the staff and they will personally make sure it gets in the plane cabin. If they do not it would be bad publicity. I'm sure you will not be let down.
You could phone the company in advance to make sure.
Good luck.

I recently traveled with my wedding dress and had no problem whatsoever with bringing it on board with me, however it did get wrinkled so I had to hire someone to press it for me at home. I think that if you call the airline in advance and ask them they will tell you that it won't be any trouble, if the dress is packed in a special way it won't be a problem.
hope this helps.

I heard about wedding insurance. But I read that it mainly covers the ring and the ceremony. The best way to find out is to contact your local insurance agent.

I doubt very much she will have to put the dress in the hold of the aircraft but to be on the safe side I would speak to specialist travel or wedding insurance broker in the UK using the site below.
